Thailand Assists in Repatriating 189 Foreign Nationals from Myawaddy in Myanmar

Myanmar, March 18th, 2025 — Lt. Col. Nai Mong So, the spokesperson for the Border Guard Force (BGF) in Myawaddy, Karen State, Myanmar, expressed gratitude to Thailand for facilitating the repatriation of foreign nationals. 

The effort, coordinated with foreign embassies, aims to relieve the burden on the BGF and assist scam victims, according to the spokesperson for the BGF.

On the same day, Thailand’s Rachamanu Task Force in Mae Sot reported that embassies from Japan, Indonesia, and Bangladesh assisted in repatriating 189 foreign nationals from Myawaddy. 

The group included 169 Indonesians, 19 Bangladeshis, and one Japanese citizen. The Bangladeshi nationals were flown to Bangkok, while the Indonesian group traveled to Bangkok by embassy-arranged transport.
