Customs and Thai Law Enforcement Seize Large Shipment of E-Cigarettes in Laem Chabang Port Raid as Vaping Crackdown Continues

Chonburi —

Authorities seized a large stash of e-cigarettes in a joint raid at Laem Chabang Port in Chonburi.

At 11:30 AM today, March 18th, authorities conducted a joint operation to inspect shipping container TSSU 512939-8 at the Kerry Siam Commercial Seaport storage yard, located within the customs-controlled area of Laem Chabang Port in Chonburi province.

During the inspection, officials discovered a large quantity of e-cigarettes and related accessories. Authorities are currently assessing the type, volume, and estimated value of the seized goods before proceeding with legal action.

E-cigarettes are still illegal in Thailand, and smuggling or selling them may constitute an offense under the Customs Act and other relevant laws. Officials are now investigating and expanding the probe to identify those involved.

This comes amongst a national crackdown on vaping ordered by the Thai Prime Minister as we have reported in multiple articles such as here.

This is actually the second major seizure of illegal vaping equipment at Laem Chabang in about a week, as we covered this previously here.

The Thai government has said they plan to intensify the crackdown even further in an effort to reduce illegal suppliers and sellers by about eighty percent.
