Car Bomb Attack in Pattani Injures Female Volunteer Defence Corps Member

Pattani-On Monday, March 17, 2025, a car bomb detonated in Ban Cho Kapho Moo 2 village, situated in Pattani’s Kapho district in southern Thailand. The explosion injured a female member of the Volunteer Defence Corps, identified as Suyanee Seeba. She was driving the vehicle at the time of the incident, which occurred around 10 a.m. local time as she was on her way to work at the Kapho district office.

Reports indicate that the bomb was a time-activated device planted by suspected separatist insurgents. Suyanee managed to escape the vehicle after the explosion, opening the car door and fleeing as the car became engulfed in flames. She sustained serious injuries, including shrapnel wounds, and was initially taken to Kapho Hospital. Due to the severity of her condition, she was later transferred to Pattani Hospital in Muang district for further treatment.
The attack is believed to be linked to the ongoing unrest in Thailand’s southern border provinces, where insurgent groups have been active for decades. Authorities, including local police, suspect this incident is part of a pattern of violence targeting security personnel and civilians in the region. The scene was secured for investigation, with officials working to confirm the perpetrators and motives, though separatist insurgency remains the leading theory.
This incident follows other recent attacks in Pattani, such as this incident The Pattaya News reported here previously.
