Pattaya —
A foreign tourist was slapped by a transgender individual in Pattaya after a heated argument over a parked motorcycle, sparking concerns about the city’s image.
At 1:06 AM on March 17th, local reporters received two video clips, capturing the moment a foreign man was assaulted by a group of transgender individuals.
The footage showed the group surrounding the foreigner, engaging in a heated argument before a transgender individual in a black outfit slapped the foreigner in the face. In response, the foreigner pushed the transgender individual’s head, which angered their friends. However, the situation did not escalate further.
The video also captures another transgender individual in a cream-colored outfit shouting at the foreigner.
When reporters visited the scene, they spoke with one of the individuals in the video, identified as Nong Fahsai, a 24-year-old LGBTQ individual. Fahsai stated that before the incident, the group had been sitting and chatting on the foreigner’s motorcycle.
Upon arriving, the foreigner confronted them, questioning why they were sitting on his motorcycle and asking if they did not have their own. Fahsai and the group felt this was condescending, so it led to an argument. However, Fahsai stated that the altercation did not become physical and ended with both parties walking away.
Local residents expressed concerns that authorities should take action, as such incidents negatively impact the image of Pattaya as a world class family friendly tourist destination.
