Thai Man Steals Motorbike From Elderly Man, Later Arrested and Caught With Drugs

Pattaya —

A 34-year-old man was arrested for theft and possession of methamphetamine after allegedly stealing a motorcycle from a 77-year-old man, only to be caught with the drugs hidden in his bag during a police search.

At 01:36 AM on March 14th, Banglamung police apprehended 34-year-old Mr. Chakrapan, with 6.46 grams of crystal methamphetamine in his possession. The arrest took place on Sukhumvit Road in Pattaya, not far from the scene of the crime.

Earlier that afternoon, 77-year-old Mr. Khien, reported a theft of his motorbike at Banglamung Police Station. He explained that while heavy rain was pouring, his motorcycle stopped working and wouldn’t start. The suspect appeared to offer help by starting the bike, but once it was running, he quickly sped off with the motorcycle. Realizing he had been robbed, he immediately filed a police report.

Following the report, officers began an immediate search for the suspect. The investigation led them to a makeshift shelter made of scrap wood, surrounded by old bottles and debris. Upon confronting the suspect, he confessed to the crime but claimed that he did not intend to steal the motorcycle. He explained that Mr. Khien had allegedly allowed him to ride the bike to sell old items, but upon returning, he found Mr. Khien gone and left the bike behind.

During a further search, officers discovered a zip-lock bag containing crystal methamphetamine hidden in the suspect’s chest bag. He admitted to possessing the drugs, stating that someone had found them and handed them over to him, which he kept for personal use.

Police did not fully trust the suspect’s statement and proceeded to detain him, along with the evidence, for further investigation and legal proceedings. The suspect also had a prior record for theft in the same area, previously arrested by the same police team.
