Pattaya —
Pattaya’s Jomtien Beach renovation project is now 80% complete, with further improvements set to improve drainage, parking, and safety by the end of 2025.
Pattaya Mayor Mr. Poramase Ngampichet, along with Deputy Mayor Mr. Krisana Boonsawat, recently visited the Jomtien Beach Landscape Improvement Project to monitor its progress.
The project aims to solve flooding issues in Pattaya and Jomtien. They were briefed by Mr. Anuwat Thongkham, Director of the Sanitation Engineering Office, and representatives from Dynamic Group Products Co., Ltd., the contractor responsible for the project.
Following the inspection, Mr. Poramase revealed that the construction has progressed by over 80%. This includes the installation of a 3,528-meter-long drainage system and the completion of 40% of the 3-kilometer-long sidewalk construction.
The project’s full completion is expected by the end of 2025. The restoration of the road surface is anticipated to take no more than one to two months, as the contractor is working according to Pattaya City’s plan.
Once completed, the Jomtien Beach improvement project will significantly alleviate flooding issues in the area. However, the mayor stressed that solving Pattaya’s flooding problems requires a comprehensive approach. This project is one of many important components, designed to channel water from higher elevations into the sea.
Mr. Poramase also stated that the project will also include the construction of a new drainage point near the boat docking area. The project will reorganize pedestrian pathways and increase parking capacity from approximately 300 spaces to over 700. Furthermore, electrical poles along a 4-kilometer stretch of Na Jomtien Beach will be moved underground, and high-mast lighting will be installed to improve visibility and safety throughout the area.
In response to if Jomtien Beach Road will remain one way when roadwork is complete in about two months, a final decision has not yet been made but officials are reportedly pleased with it being one way currently.
