Deadly Bombings and Shootings Strike Southern Thailand, Kill 5, Injure 11

South, at around 7:09 PM on March 8th, 2025 — Gunmen launched a coordinated attack involving gunfire and bomb explosions at the Sungai Kolok District Office in Narathiwat, killing two territorial defense volunteers and injuring eight others, including two civilians.

Authorities reported that the attackers arrived in a silver pickup truck and a silver sedan, with around 10 armed men dressed in black.


According to the authorities, they threw explosives and opened fire at the district office before fleeing the scene. Suspects also placed suspicious objects at multiple locations in Sungai Kolok Municipality. Three separate explosions were confirmed in Sungai Kolok district.


At 7:52 PM, a separate explosion targeted two power poles in Sungai Padi district, with no reported injuries. Police and special operations teams secured the sites and are reviewing CCTV footage to track the suspects.
Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul expressed deep condolences to the victims’ families and ordered full support for the injured. He also instructed local officials to strengthen security and prioritize the safety of both civilians and officers.

Meanwhile, at 11:20 PM, a bomb exploded in Sai Buri district, Pattani, killing a paramilitary ranger and two village assistants. Another village security assistant was injured.
