Pattaya —
Pattaya City is preparing for the 2025 Wan Lai Naklua and Wan Lai Pattaya festivals, with water-pouring ceremonies, cultural shows, and colorful parades.
At Pattaya City Hall, Deputy Mayor Mr. Wuttisak Rermkijakarn presided over a preparatory meeting for the 2025 Wan Lai Naklua and Wan Lai Pattaya festivals.
Pattaya City is set to organize the annual Wan Lai Pattaya – Naklua festival in April at Lan Pho Naklua Public Park and Wat Chai Mongkhon in South Pattaya. The Wan Lai Naklua festival, set for April 18th will take place at Lan Pho Naklua Public Park. The events will include religious ceremonies such as a Buddhist chanting session, almsgiving, and the ritual bathing of Buddha statues.
Attendees can also participate in a water-pouring ceremony to seek blessings from elders, enjoy cultural performances, and witness a grand floral parade. This year’s parade will feature the reigning Miss Universe and Miss Grand, alongside a procession of monks for good fortune.
Meanwhile, the Wan Lai Pattaya festival, scheduled for April 19th, will be held at Wat Chai Mongkhon. The festivities will include a morning food offering for monks and traditional Buddhist water-pouring rituals.
Visitors can enjoy Thai cultural performances, a retro-style dance show, and traditional games such as tug-of-war and greased pole climbing. A grand procession of floral floats and monks will depart from the temple, and the celebrations will conclude with a sand pagoda-building activity on Pattaya Beach.
Although water splashing will inevitably happen and be a major draw for tourists, Pattaya City officials hope that this year the focus can be on traditional and religious aspects of Songkran versus wild parties and water wars.
