Pattaya —
Pattaya City is ramping up its green initiatives, including using more solar energy and electric vehicles, to cut carbon emissions to become a low-carbon tourism destination.
On February 24th, Pattaya City held its second meeting on improving its public image, led by Mayor Mr. Poramase Ngampichet. Officials also discussed ways to make the city more eco-friendly by focusing on reducing energy use and greenhouse gas emissions.
According to the mayor, the city has launched the “Pattaya Go Green” project to promote electric vehicles and teamed up with private companies to cut waste and support clean energy. Solar panels have already been installed at City Hall, with plans to expand them to local schools around the city.
Mr. Poramase further explained that Pattaya City hosts numerous tourism-related events throughout the year, which often draw large crowds of locals, tourists, and vendors. To further advance Pattaya’s goal of becoming a “low-carbon tourism city,” the city will implement the “Low Carbon City Development through Sustainable Urban Management System” project.
This initiative will focus on reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the tourism sector, promoting clean energy, developing environmentally friendly transportation systems, and incentivizing businesses and residents to adopt carbon-neutral practices.
