Thai Man Chases Foreigner with Knife on Jomtien Road Reportedly Over Fare Dispute

Pattaya —

A Thai man was seen chasing a foreigner with a knife on Jomtien Second Road, reportedly over a fare dispute.

The incident first came to light on February 21st. The Facebook group “Bolt Drive Pattaya รวมคนขับพัทยา” posted a video showing a Thai man wearing a full-face helmet chasing a foreigner with a knife in the middle of the street.

The post included a caption questioning whether the attacker was a ride-hailing driver. The incident reportedly occurred around 12:30 PM.

At 2:30 PM, The Pattaya News reporters visited the incident scene near the entrance of a residential village on Jomtien Second Road, heading toward Sukhumvit Road. A 56-year-old security guard revealed that he heard loud arguing and saw the two chasing each other into the street but was unaware of the cause. He suspected it was a dispute over a fare.

A 30-year-old woman, Ms. Nam, who captured the incident on her dashcam, recounted that she was driving toward Bang Saray when she saw a Thai man in a helmet chasing a foreign man with a knife. The foreigner ran across the road. Ms. Nam also honked her horn to alert others before driving past the scene. She did not know the cause of the altercation.
