Police raided a Pattaya apartment and arrested a gang of six teenagers, including a 16-year-old boy with a homemade gun, who were previously involved in a violent attack in a Pattaya community.
The arrest followed a violent brawl in Pattaya on February 18th, where rival groups of teenagers on motorcycles clashed and threw explosives, causing panic among residents in Soi Masong-Kai Muay.
Following an investigation, Nongprue police raided an apartment room on the third floor of the Ban Ua-Athorn Naklua housing complex in Moo 12. Upon arrival, they found six teenagers gathering and drinking kratom juice inside the room. Kratom was decriminalized in Thailand in 2022, although there are regular crackdowns on selling it without a proper license.
The room’s owner, identified as 19-year-old Mr. Teerapan, was present. A search of a black shoulder bag belonging to a 16-year-old boy (name withheld due to his age) uncovered a homemade firearm and two .38-caliber bullets, which were seized as evidence.
During questioning, the boy reportedly admitted that the firearm belonged to him and claimed it had been given to him by an older friend for self-defense. He was charged with “illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition” before being handed over to investigators for legal proceedings. The other individuals were found with no illegal items and were given a warning before being released.
Reports revealed that the 16-year-old suspect was among a group of about ten teenagers who brawled with their rivals and threw explosives in Soi Masong-Kai Muay. Police are continuing their investigation.
