Pai, February 22nd, 2025 – Mae Hong Son immigration officials reported a sharp rise in tourist arrivals to Pai, with 21,026 visitors recorded from February 1st to 20th—an increase of 3,264 compared to the same period in 2024.
British tourists remained the largest group, increasing from 3,819 to 4,278. The most significant jump came from Israeli visitors, rising from 817 last year to 3,034 this year. German, Dutch, and American tourists rounded out the top five.
Despite recent concerns over Israeli tourist behavior, authorities confirmed it had not impacted foreign arrivals.
However, following multiple incidents in Pai, the Israeli Embassy in Thailand issued a statement urging its citizens to respect local customs, maintain public order, and comply with Thai laws.
The embassy reminded tourists to avoid excessive noise in public, follow traffic regulations, and dress appropriately. The statement followed reports of four Israeli visitors being deported due to misconduct.
