Bangkok, February 20th, 2025 – at Talad Noi on Charoen Krung Road, Bangkok, a group of people gathered in front of the Optimus Prime statue from the famous movie: Transformers, seeking good fortune.
Among them were Paripat and Wichayanee, managers of Sunset Café, holding a sign that read: “Goal Achieved! Free Coffee to Celebrate.”
The duo distributed 99 free drinks, fulfilling a vow made to the statue after their café saw record-breaking sales for three consecutive months.
Initially struggling during the New Year period, they jokingly turned to the robot for help, promising to run around it 50 times if business improved. To their surprise, customers soon flooded in, according to Thai national media.
Their gesture attracted both locals and foreigners, with some visitors even offering red soft drinks to the statue. The Optimus Prime monument has become a local superstition hotspot, with past worshippers hiring traditional dancers to express their gratitude for granted wishes.
