Pattaya – February 18th 2025
In a crackdown on illegal employment, the Tourist Police Bureau, armed with a court-issued search warrant, raided a company whose name has been withheld pending further investigation on Monday afternoon at 2:50 p.m. The operation was spearheaded by Pol. Col. Songwut Chueaplakit, Chief of Investigation, and Pol. Lt. Col. Piyapong Raksa, Deputy Chief of Investigation, following a tip-off from a concerned citizen regarding the unlawful hiring of foreign workers.
The raid, backed by the Pattaya Provincial Court’s warrant No. 36/2025, targeted the company’s premises located in a commercial building in Pattaya. Upon entering the second and third floors, officials discovered a mix of Thai and foreign employees, including nine Chinese workers, engaged in office activities involving computers.
During the inspection, it was revealed that while the Chinese employees possessed valid passports, they lacked the necessary work permits required by Thai law. This led to immediate charges under the Immigration Act of 1979 for “Aliens who have been granted permission to temporarily reside in the Kingdom, work or are employed without permission.”
The workers were handed over to investigators at the Pattaya City Police Station for further legal action.
