Exercise Cobra Gold 2025 to Begin February 25th, 2025

Bangkok, Thailand (February 18, 2025): The 44th iteration of the annual theater security cooperation event Joint Exercise Cobra Gold 2025 (CG25) will take place February 25th through March 7, 2025, in the Kingdom of Thailand. The United States extends our gratitude to our friend and Ally for hosting this world-class training exercise.

Cobra Gold is the largest joint and combined exercise in the Indo-Pacific region, and a concrete example of the strong alliance and strategic relationship between Thailand and the United States, as well as an example of the strong cooperative relationship with the other participating Allies and partners. Cobra Gold demonstrates the U.S. commitment to the region by building interoperability, multilateral cooperative arrangements, and advancing common interests through our commitment to Allies and partners in ensuring a free and open Indo-Pacific.

Cobra Gold 25 will strengthen the capabilities of participating nations to plan and conduct combined and joint operations; build relationships among participating nations; and enhance interoperability over a range of activities, across multiple domains, and response to large-scale natural disasters, and cyber security threats.

Cobra Gold is a longstanding symbol of the U.S.-Thai defense alliance. The exercise demonstrates our steadfast commitment towards enhancing critical capabilities and readiness required to address the full spectrum of security challenges in the Indo-Pacific together. The nations represented at Joint Exercise Cobra Gold have worked together on rescue, disaster recovery, and other responses to many real-world challenges and crises in the region.

This year’s exercise will consist of three primary events: a command-and-control exercise, humanitarian civic assistance projects, and a field training exercise that includes a variety of training events to enhance interoperability and strengthen regional relationships. Approximately 30 nations will participate either directly or as observers. Approximately 3,200 U.S. personnel will be directly participating.

Cobra Gold 25 fosters interoperability and contributes to the operational readiness of all the militaries involved in the context of international rules and norms. Equally important to the training value gained during Joint Exercise Cobra Gold are the relationships developed by our service members at every level. This aspect of the exercise—the building of relationships—fosters a spirit of cooperation and goodwill.
