Chonburi- Chonburi Provincial Police Commander, Pol. Maj. Gen. Thawatchakiat Jindakhonsong, led a recent meeting designed to address successful crime and drug cleanups in Jomtien on Sois 2 and 3 and to address community concerns about similar problems around Sois 11 and 12 at abandoned buildings. The meeting was held at the Somprasong Jomtien Soi 11 project.
Pol. Maj. Gen. Thawatchakiat Jindakhonsong highlighted the success of the “Parasite Cleanup” operation, which has been pivotal in clearing drug hotspots like Jomtien Soi 3, as we reported here. “This operation has seen the area nearing a 100% solution with no drug sales or gatherings,” he stated, emphasizing the transformation of these zones into safe community spaces and announced that the recent removal of illegal structures on Jomtien Soi 2 and 3 would be replaced with a small sports field similar to those under Bali Hai underpass and heavy lighting and police patrols to make the area more community friendly.
The focus then shifted to Jomtien Soi 11, where similar issues have been reported. The police, informed by public complaints, are now poised to replicate their success according to them and focus on several abandoned buildings behind the Pizza Company and Swenson’s area to clear them of homeless, drug dealers, and crime.
The Commander urged the public to play an active role in maintaining community safety by reporting any clues related to drugs, crime, or transnational criminal activities through the Chonburi Provincial Police’s official social media channels. “We are committed to addressing these issues with the seriousness they deserve,” assured Pol. Maj. Gen. Thawatchakiat.
Recent operations have also led to the arrest of over 60 foreign workers and illegal immigrants in the Nongprue Police Station area as we reported here.
