Pattaya Cannabis Farm Fire Leads to Dizzying Aftermath

Pattaya —

A legal cannabis grow operation in Pattaya went up in flames last night, sending nearby residents into a fit of laughter and dizziness.

At 10:06 PM on February 13th, the Public Disaster Relief Center received a report of a fire at a commercial building in Soi Welcome Jomtien. After receiving the report, they coordinated with police officers from the Pattaya Police Station before rushing to the scene.

The scene was a 4-story commercial building used for cannabis cultivation by Little Christiania Company Limited. The fire originated on the second floor, in a cannabis breeding room.

Flames were burning, and officials used fire trucks to spray water to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading. However, they faced difficulties due to the thick smoke from the burning cannabis plants, which filled the entire alley with a strong odor. It took over half an hour to control the fire, leaving only smoke and the smell of burnt cannabis plants lingering in the building.

Ms. Kanchana, the 40-year-old caretaker of the farm, stated that the place was legally licensed to grow cannabis for herbal purposes. She suspected that the fire was caused by an electrical short in the lighting system used for the cannabis plants. The estimated damage is around 200,000 baht. Fortunately, there were no injuries.

It was reported that the fire greatly affected residents and tourists in the surrounding area. The smoke and odor from the cannabis plants spread through the air, causing those who inhaled it to feel dizzy. Some experienced headaches, while others had watery eyes and were laughing for no reason…
