Pattaya – On February 12th, 2025, at 6:00 PM, Pol. Maj. Gen. Chairit Anurit announced the arrest of Mr. Lee Chun Sam, 51, a South Korean national with an Interpol red notice for transnational drug smuggling.
The arrest took place on the 8th floor of a luxury condominium on Soi Thepprasit 9 in Jomtien after the Chonburi Immigration Police previously discovered that Mr. Lee Chun Sam was hiding in the Jomtien area and a plan was devised to apprehend him.
During the arrest, police were shocked to find over 150 grams of crystal meth hidden in the bedroom, along with a mobile phone, a small GPS device, and various drug-packaging equipment. They also found books with secret compartments used to hide drugs, intended for shipment from Thailand to South Korea.
Mr. Lee Chun Sam was also found to have overstayed his visa, although the exact number of days was not disclosed to The Pattaya News. Chonburi Immigration Police and Narcotics Control Board officers charged him with “Distributing Category 1 narcotics (methamphetamine) by having them for sale in violation of the law, acting for trade, causing the spread among the public, and affecting national security or the safety of the general public” and “Being an alien who traveled into and resided in the Kingdom by overstay.”
Pol. Col. Naphasapong Khositsuriyamanee revealed to The Pattaya News that Mr. Lee’s behavior was linked to his South Korean wife, who was previously arrested in South Korea for illegally smuggling drugs. Mr. Lee reportedly contacted foreign associates in the Pattaya area to purchase drugs, which he then packed into books, installed with a GPS device, and sent to South Korea.
Mr. Lee is still under an Interpol red notice for drug-related offenses. The Chonburi Immigration Office will continue investigating to arrest any remaining associates of Mr. Lee’s.
