At 12:20 AM on February 11th, 2025, a Route 167 air-conditioned buses driver reportedly lost control and crashed into a high-voltage power pole’s support cable at Maha Sawat Intersection, Thonburi, Bangkok.
The impact lifted the front wheels more than three meters off the ground, with the left side mirror caught on the thick steel cable, leaving the bus immobilized.
The driver, Ms. Apinya, 34, stated that she was coming down from Krungthep Bridge and turning onto Chom Thong Road when she reportedly encountered an oil slick, causing the front wheels to slide.
Unable to regain control, the bus driver reportedly veered off course and struck the support cable. She added that any other maneuver could have resulted in injuries.
At the time of the incident, three passengers were on board, but none were harmed. Emergency responders confirmed no injuries or fatalities.
Officials from the Metropolitan Electricity Authority dispatched a crane to lift the bus back onto the road and assess potential damage to the power infrastructure. Traffic was temporarily disrupted as authorities worked to clear the scene.
