Pattaya —
A Chinese tourist was seriously injured after being hit by a pickup truck driver while crossing the road near Pattaya Central Tunnel.
At 9:30 PM on February 8th, the Sawang Boriboon Pattaya Rescue Center received a report of an accident at the Pattaya Central Tunnel, heading towards Sattahip. Rescue teams and police quickly went to the scene.
Upon arrival, authorities found a white Toyota Vigo pickup truck. The driver, identified only as 26-year-old Mr. Sitthichai, was present at the scene. Under the front bumper of the truck, authorities discovered Ms. Min Qie, a 61-year-old Chinese national, unconscious. Rescue workers quickly extricated her from beneath the vehicle, provided first aid, and rushed her to Bangkok Pattaya Hospital.
According to Mr. Sitthichai, he was exiting the Pattaya Central Tunnel when he saw a group of Chinese tourists running across the road. Ms. Min was the last to cross, and he was unable to brake in time, resulting in the collision. After regaining his composure, he immediately called the police.
Pattaya police took Mr. Sitthichai to the police station for further questioning. CCTV footage from the area will be reviewed as part of the investigation before legal proceedings are carried out.
