Pattaya, February 7th, 2025 – Chonburi immigration officers arrested Kim Young-soo, a South Korean national suspected of involvement in investment fraud, romance scams, and other online schemes worth over 140 million baht. He was found hiding in a Pattaya condo.
A biometrics check revealed Kim entered Thailand from South Korea on July 20th, 2024, via Suvarnabhumi Airport and overstayed his visa by 112 days. Authorities seized computers, mobile phones, and a bank card before handing him over for legal proceedings.
Investigations with the South Korean Embassy and Thai-Korean police confirmed Kim was wanted under both South Korean and Interpol warrants for large-scale fraud.
He allegedly led a call center scam operation based in Guangzhou, China. After a crackdown by Chinese and South Korean authorities, he fled to Thailand.
Further inquiries suggest Kim was also involved in drug trafficking from Thailand to South Korea and money laundering. Authorities are now expanding their investigation into his alleged criminal network.
