Pattaya has earned the prestigious Thai ISO 13009 certification for its well-managed beaches, according to the Mayor.
On February 4th, Pattaya City held a press conference to announce that its beaches have been certified under ISO 13009 for their good management, beauty, and high tourism standards.
Between April and December 2024, Pattaya City undertook the process of obtaining ISO 13009:2015 certification, which evaluates the quality and management of tourist beaches. The certification was granted by the Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (TISTR) and the Thai Department of Tourism. As a result, Pattaya received three prestigious awards, including:
- Natural Tourism Destination Quality Certification
Pattaya’s beaches were evaluated under the category of managed or developed tourist beaches and were awarded a “Very Good” rating. - ISO 13009:2015 Beach Operation Certification
The city’s beach management met level 2 full requirements under the ISO 13009:2015 standard. - Thai Tourism Destination Quality Certification
This certification recognizes Pattaya’s beaches for meeting Thailand’s national tourism destination standards.
