Thai Authorities Raid Illegal Gambling Den in Nakhon Nayok, Arrest 200 Gamblers

NAKHON NAYOK, February 3rd, 2025 – Thai Authorities raided a large illegal gambling den hidden in a rice field in Ongkharak District, arresting over 200 gamblers and seizing cash and gambling chips worth more than 2 million baht.

The operation followed public complaints to local and national authorities about a 24-hour gambling hub. Nakhon Nayok Governor Chanon Wasiksiri personally inspected the site and, after confirming suspicious activity, coordinated with central agencies for a large-scale crackdown.

Gamblers were caught playing Dragon Tiger, Hi-Lo, and online betting. Investigations revealed that the venue had been operating for nearly a year, using taxis, minibuses, and vans to transport players while evading previous crackdowns.

The Ministry of the Interior, under Deputy Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul’s directive, reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating illegal gambling and cracking down on organized crime.

Thailand is considering allowing legal casinos, with strict rules, notes TPN Media, but the proposal would not legalize gambling or stand alone casinos. A large portion of the Thai public, however, oppose the plans as we reported here.
