On February 1st, 2025, Thai PM Paetongtarn Shinawatra shared a video call with five Thai hostages recently released in Israel, expressing relief and urging swift action to free the last remaining captive.
Foreign Minister Maris Sangiampongsa and Thai officials traveled to Tel Aviv to thank the Israeli government and international partners for their role in securing the hostages’ release.
The Thai government coordinated closely with Israel to ensure the safety and well-being of those freed, providing medical and psychological support while they await repatriation.
Authorities confirmed that the released workers are entitled to financial compensation, including monthly payments from Israel’s National Insurance Institute, back wages, and government assistance for returning home.
The government remains committed to securing the release of the last Thai hostage and repatriating the bodies of two Thai workers who lost their lives in the conflict.
