Pattaya– Expressway officials near Pattaya were alerted to a chaotic incident last night, February 2nd, involving a large signboard falling across traffic, causing significant congestion and fear of electric shock, leading to panic among road users. The incident occurred at the motorway exit to the toll plaza heading to an international school just outside of Pattaya.
When relevant officials arrived at the scene, they found a large signboard had fallen across the entire lane of the road, causing long-distance traffic congestion. There was also fear of electric shock related to the fallen sign and lighting cables, prompting road users to quickly pull over and flee for safety. Officials promptly used a tow truck to remove the sign from the road, and traffic returned to normal shortly thereafter.
Inquiries with highway officials and witnesses revealed that the cause of the incident was a large dump truck driving with its pickup bed lifted, which struck the signboard, causing it to collapse. Witnesses reported that the unidentified dump truck driver got out to inspect the damage, lowered the pickup bed, and then nonchalantly drove away without showing any responsibility or calling authorities.
Authorities are currently reviewing CCTV footage and urgently tracking down the driver of the dump truck to prosecute him according to the law and charge him for financial damages caused by the incident.
