Pattaya Nightlife Shut Down For One Night as Election Restrictions Take Effect

National —

On the night of January 31st, 2025, Pattaya City Police, Tourist Police, and related authorities conducted strict inspections of entertainment venues and restaurants to enforce the alcohol ban ahead of the Chonburi Provincial Administrative Organization election.

Officials found that business operators in Pattaya complied with the government order by closing their establishments.

At Pattaya Beach, where large crowds of tourists gathered, officers conducted random checks and reminded vendors that selling alcohol and kratom drinks was prohibited. Similar cooperation was observed in areas outside Pattaya, with no violations reported.

Authorities warned that offenders would face legal action without exception. Violators could face up to six months in jail, a fine of up to 10,000 baht, or both under the Election Act. The measure aims to maintain public order and ensure voters can cast their ballots with a clear mind.
