Bangkok —
On January 28th, 2025, Thai immigration police raided an illegal cannabis grow house in Bangkok’s Lak Si district, arresting a Vietnamese national, Nguyen Ngoc.
The operation followed complaints from locals about strong odors and noise from a concealed facility inside a four-story commercial building.
Investigators found the first floor used for storage and worker accommodation, while floors two to four were converted into high-tech grow rooms with lighting, ventilation, and irrigation systems.
The suspect reportedly admitted to tending the plants for four months, earning 20,000 baht per month from a Thai employer publicly identified only as “Ton.”
Authorities charged him with working without a permit and unauthorized cannabis cultivation. The building owner and workers face legal action, with potential jail time and fines. Officials warned that cannabis growers must obtain proper licenses to prevent illicit distribution.
