Pattaya —
An Indian tourist in Pattaya claimed he had his 80,000-baht gold necklace stolen by a group of transgender thieves near Soi 7, the second similar incident in a day.
On January 21st at 12:11 AM, Pattaya police received a complaint from the victim, identified by police only as Mr. Kumar, a 41-year-old Indian tourist, who reported that a group of transgender women had snatched his gold necklace worth over 80,000 baht from him. The incident occurred near Soi 7, Pattaya Beach Road, Chonburi.
According to the victim, he and his friend were visiting Pattaya. While exploring the city’s nightlife and attractions, they were approached by a group of three transgender women, who offered sexual services and engaged them in conversation. The suspects then encircled Mr. Kumar, hugged him, and quickly walked away. Shortly after, Mr. Kumar realized that his gold necklace was missing. He was confident that it had been stolen by the transgenders.
Pattaya police are reviewing CCTV footage to track down the suspects.
This incident comes just a day after another Indian tourist reported having his 132,000-baht gold necklace stolen by a group of transgender individuals on Pattaya Beach. None of the suspects have been arrested so far.
Pattaya police have warned tourists on multiple occasions to not wear expensive jewelry while out and about and to be wary of friendly strangers approaching them, especially if hugging or touching them. Major crime against tourists is fairly rare in Pattaya but petty crime, like pickpocketing, is more common.
