Newborn Baby Boy Abandoned at Pattaya Hospital, Authorities Step In to Provide Care

Pattaya —

A newborn baby boy was found abandoned at Pattaya Patthamakun Hospital, where authorities are now providing care and attempting to identify the mother.

On January 17th, 2025, at Pattaya Patthamakun Hospital, Banglamung District Chief Mr. Phatphat Sritanyanon and Ms. Primrita Sritanyanon, President of the Banglamung Red Cross Association, visited a newborn baby who had been abandoned at the hospital. They provided baby supplies and were welcomed by Dr. Wichai Thanasophon, the hospital director.

The officials proceeded to the third floor of the Pattayathorn building, where the baby boy, who was only about 4-5 days old, was being cared for. Dr. Wichai explained that the baby, who appeared healthy and weighed 2,886 grams, had been found abandoned in front of the delivery room.

CCTV footage showed a woman leaving the baby, but it was unclear whether she had given birth at the hospital or elsewhere. However, the umbilical cord clamp indicated it was from the hospital. The incident was reported to Banglamung Police Station, which is now investigating to identify the woman. Meanwhile, the hospital will continue to care for the baby.

Mr. Phatphat stated that if the mother was found, the child may be returned to her eventually depending on legal decisions. Meanwhile, the Banglamung Red Cross Association, along with medical and social work teams, will care for the baby for the next 6-7 months. The child’s long-term well-being will be the priority.

As the baby has not yet been named, the district chief temporarily named him Nong Ohm, after his own nickname.
