Prachuap Khiri Khan —
On January 17th, 2025, police in Prachuap Khiri Khan uncovered a major drug shipment, seizing over 100 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine with an estimated street value exceeding 200 million baht.
The drugs, hidden in foam boxes and white fertilizer sacks, were left outside the train station for two days, awaiting transportation to Hat Yai, Songkhla.
While authorities were inspecting the parcels, a Thai man dressed as a tourist arrived and claimed to be there to collect “spicy curry paste” parcels. Upon noticing police officers counting the seized drugs, he reportedly hurriedly left the station, made a phone call, and returned shortly afterward to inquire about changing a train ticket.
Officers identified him as a suspect from CCTV footage and detained him for questioning. The man, later identified as 24-year-old Kittiwut, admitted he had been sent to retrieve the shipment but denied any connection to the drugs, claiming he thought he was really there to get curry paste.
He was taken to the police station for further questioning, with authorities launching an expanded investigation to identify the individuals behind the smuggling operation.
