Crackdown in Jomtien: Police Ensure Safety for Tourists and Locals

Pattaya —

At 5:06 PM on January 17th, 2025, Pattaya City police mobilized over 50 officers to inspect abandoned commercial buildings in Jomtien.

The operation, aligned with directives from senior officials, aimed to address drug-related activities and loitering in the area around Soi 2 and Soi 3 in the Jomtien area. They also checked the area around the Now hotel and some other sois.

The inspection followed complaints from residents about groups of homeless individuals, foreign nationals, and suspected drug users and dealers occupying the derelict buildings. Police conducted random checks on suspicious individuals and searched for illegal activities.

The operation was part of ongoing efforts to enhance public safety and improve Pattaya’s image for tourists and locals.
No illegal items or offenders were reported during the sweep, but authorities vowed to conduct regular patrols to ensure compliance and deter unlawful activities.

TPN Media notes that these particular sois have been targeted multiple times recently, such as this raid in December involving hundreds of police and the arrests of over fifty people. The area became dilapidated and lost most of its businesses and tenants during the COVID-19 crisis and unlike surrounding parts of Pattaya never truly and fully recovered. These operations are part of police seeking to restore peace and law enforcement to the area and attract future quality tenants and businesses.
