On January 16th, 2025, Col. Natthakorn Rueantip, the Commander of the Ratchamanu Task Force in Mae Sot, Tak Province, launched a joint operation with military, police, and local leaders to strengthen border security.
The team erected multilingual posters in Thai, English, and Chinese at 12 key locations, warning against illegal job scams targeting Thai and foreign nationals.
Patrols were intensified along the Mae Sot-Myanmar border, with a new 24-hour checkpoint established on a high-risk route from Ban Mae Gone Ken to Ban Huai Maha Wong. Authorities are focusing on cross-border movement, public safety, and cybercrime in the area.
Meanwhile, the disappearance of Chinese model Yang Zeqi near Mae Sot prompted his father, Yang Hai Tao, to appeal to the Royal Thai Police for assistance. Col. Natthakorn confirmed that communications with Myanmar authorities are ongoing and Yang had reportedly been safely located and was returning to China, but further details were not released.
The case echoes a recent rescue of Chinese celebrity Wang Xing from a call center gang near the Myanmar border.
