Udon Thani —
On January 13th, 2025, police in Ban Phue, Udon Thani, acted on reports from a local hospital’s staff about a pickup truck selling tamarind while displaying explicit images. The vehicle, adorned with provocative posters of men and women, parked in the hospital’s lot.
Officers found the truck loaded with three baskets of tamarind and 11 explicit posters, partially covered with tape to obscure sensitive parts. Vendors Mr. Sengeam, 51, and Ms. Supaporn, 33, reportedly admitted to using the explicit posters to attract customers.
Sengeam explained it as a marketing tactic, combining seasonal fruit sales with promotional giveaways, such as gold rings for lucky customers spending over 500 baht. He acknowledged prior warnings about the images but considered them a harmless joke.
Police charged the couple under Section 388 for public indecency, resulting in a 2,500-baht fine. All posters were confiscated as evidence.
