Na Jomtien —
A Russian tourist was found dead by hanging in a Na Jomtien apartment in Sattahip.
At 11:00 PM on January 8th, Na Jomtien police received a report of a foreign tourist found dead by hanging at an apartment in the Na Jomtien area in the Sattahip district of Chonburi province. After receiving the report, police, along with rescue workers from the Sawang Rojanatham Foundation, went to the scene for investigation.
At the apartment, authorities found the body of Mr. Batsevichus, a 39-year-old Russian national, in a room on the second floor. He was discovered nude and was hanging by an orange nylon rope tied to the handle of a wardrobe door. Police estimated that he had been deceased for at least 5-10 hours. No signs of assault were detected on his body, and the officers removed the deceased for further investigation.
Police searched the room and found no signs of ransacking or a struggle. According to police, a friend of the deceased visited him after being unable to contact him. They then used a spare key from the accommodation to enter the room and were shocked to discover the victim’s body. They immediately contacted the authorities.
Initially, Na Jomtien police believed the death was a suicide. However, the exact motive remains under investigation. The body had been sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine at the Police General Hospital for an autopsy to determine the precise cause of death. The victim’s embassy had been notified to contact his relatives.
