Banglamung

Two men were arrested for attempting to steal metal from an abandoned building in Banglamung on January 7th, 2024.

The building had previously been a construction materials and cement factory. The suspects, later identified as 38-year-old Mr. Pinkaew Boonsuan and 41-year-old Mr. Pinthong Boonsuay, were detained along with evidence including a sledgehammer, a hacksaw, and several metal pieces that had been cut and gathered together.

Mr. Tee, a 46-year-old local resident, told local media that over the past two days, he had heard loud sounds of metal being hammered and walls being broken. He noticed one of the suspects shaking the metal gate and using a sledgehammer on the wall.

Mr. Tee was sure that the individuals were not workers maintaining the building, so he contacted the local municipal authorities to arrest them. Upon arrival, authorities discovered the two suspects attempting to steal and cut metal to sell.

Both suspects reportedly admitted to the crime and were charged with theft and trespassing. They were taken to the police for further legal action.
