PATTAYA, Thailand- Following numerous complaints from the public, the Mayor of Na Jomtien in Sattahip spearheaded a comprehensive inspection of Na Jomtien Beach, the serene southern extension of Jomtien Beach. The inspection, involving law enforcement and various municipal agencies, aimed to address issues of business encroachment on the public beach.
Upon arrival, officials found that the encroachers had mysteriously disappeared, leaving behind only the natural beauty of the sandy shore and clear sea. The mayor took this opportunity to clarify the municipality’s stance on beach use. She announced that Na Jomtien Beach will maintain a strict policy against any commercial activities, including the operation of umbrella and food vendors, which are common on the Pattaya side of the beach.
“We want to preserve the natural allure of our beaches for all to enjoy,” the mayor explained. “Visitors are welcome to bring their own chairs and umbrellas but must understand that camping overnight is prohibited. No businesses will be allowed to sell equipment or claim spots on this public beach.”
This decision has sparked a mix of reactions among locals and tourists. Some applaud the move to keep the beach free from commercial clutter, emphasizing the importance of enjoying nature in its purest form. Others express concern over the lack of convenience for tourists who might prefer the ease of renting beach equipment.
The mayor emphasized that this policy reflects Na Jomtien’s commitment to environmental conservation and public access, aiming to offer a unique beach experience distinct from the more commercialized areas of Pattaya. Visitors are encouraged to respect these regulations to maintain the tranquility and natural state of Na Jomtien Beach.
