At 7:55 PM on December 28th, 2024, Thai security officials reported an explosion in Myawaddy, Myanmar, just 1.5 kilometers from the Thai-Myanmar border opposite Mae Sot, Tak.

Investigations revealed that a drone deployed by the Karen National Union (KNU) military faction dropped two bombs on the Myawaddy Police Station.

The explosion caused structural damage and injured four individuals, including three police officers and one civilian relative of an officer.

Myanmar authorities promptly inspected the site and transported the injured to Myawaddy Hospital. The loud blast startled Thai residents along the border, prompting heightened security measures, according to Thai authorities.
