On December 27th, 2024, Mr. Thienprasit Chaiyapatranun, the president of the Thai Hotels Association, announced that advance hotel bookings have surged across Thailand, with many key tourist areas nearing full capacity through early January 2025.
Popular districts in Bangkok near shopping hubs like Ratchaprasong and Sukhumvit are fully booked, with occupancy rates projected to reach 70% this December—significantly higher than last year, according to Thienprasit.
Thienprasith highlighted that flexible pricing strategies have allowed some 4-5 star hotels to achieve record-high room rates. However, he urged stricter safety measures during the festive season to prevent incidents that could harm Thailand’s tourism reputation.
He also called on the government to extend support for domestic tourism campaigns like “We Travel Together” during the off-season and implement measures to reduce operating costs and enhance workforce skills.
The recently launched “Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism & Sports Year 2025” campaign, he noted, is expected to boost collaboration across sectors and drive long-term growth in tourism and hospitality.
