Bangkok —
On December 25th, 2024, Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt issued a directive to bolster safety during the 2025 New Year festivities. With large crowds expected for celebrations, authorities have implemented strict measures to mitigate risks like fires, accidents, and crimes.
The Bangkok Emergency Monitoring Center will oversee activities across the city, focusing on high-risk zones such as entertainment venues and festival sites.
Authorities will use CCTV to monitor densely crowded areas and ensure compliance with safety protocols, including functional fire prevention systems and clearly marked evacuation routes. Inspections will also target fireworks and lantern vendors to enforce regulations.
Residents traveling out of town are advised to inspect and secure electrical systems at home. The public is also urged to adopt the “Don’t Drink and Drive” campaign to reduce accidents.
Fireworks, sky lanterns, and similar items are strictly prohibited without district approval, with violators facing penalties of up to three years imprisonment or fines of up to 60,000 baht.
For emergencies, citizens can contact hotlines 199 or 1669 for immediate assistance, available 24/7.
