Homeless Woman Arrested for Using Meth on Pattaya Beach in Front of Tourists

Pattaya —

A homeless woman was caught using methamphetamine on Pattaya beach in front of sunbathing tourists this morning. She was later arrested and transferred for rehabilitation.

At 11:00 AM on December 19th, The Pattaya News reporters discovered lifeguards on Pattaya Beach securing the area around a 52-year-old homeless woman, identified only as Ms. Samai, who was sitting on the beach and using methamphetamine in front of a group of foreign tourists sunbathing. She appeared unconcerned by the people walking by.

The lifeguards shouted at her to stop her actions and contacted Pattaya police for help. Officers quickly arrived and found drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine in Ms. Samai’s possession. The officers kept them as evidence.

Ms. Samai was taken to a rehabilitation center at the Banglamung District Office for treatment. She reportedly admitted to using meth, saying she had bought only two pills. She explained that she chose to use the drug right on the beach because the atmosphere felt right to her and the most dangerous places would be the safest in her opinion.

Mr. Phalat, a coastal safety officer, told The Pattaya News that while he and his team were monitoring tourists on the beach, they noticed a strong smell resembling methamphetamine in the air. They then found the woman using the drug in front of sunbathing tourists.

Mr. Phalat urged homeless people causing problems and disturbances to tourists to stop, as such behavior could damage Pattaya’s world-class tourism image.
