Swiss National Allegedly Assaulted by Youth Gang in Pattaya Over Parking Dispute

PATTAYA, THAILAND —

On the evening of December 15th, 2024, a 66-year-old Swiss national, Mr. Manoutcher Kamel Kamai, was allegedly violently attacked by a group of local youths in Pattaya. The assault, believed to stem from a parking disagreement, left Mr. Kamai with serious injuries, including a swollen left eye, facial trauma, and multiple abrasions across his body.

The incident unfolded around 11:36 p.m. according to Mr. Kamai when he was driving a bronze Toyota Vios and parked his vehicle on Pattaya South Road near a local school to go eat dinner. After dining, he returned to his car only to find a group of 4-6 teenagers surrounding it. Mr. Kamai reported that one of the youths used a rock to smash both the front and back windows of his car, rendering them full of holes.

In an attempt to stop the vandalism, Mr. Kamai was met with violence according to his statement to The Pattaya News reporters; two members of the group assaulted him, punching him repeatedly until he fell. Despite his cries for mercy, the attackers continued to kick and stomp on him, inflicting further pain and injury. The assault only ceased when a passerby intervened, causing the group to flee the scene.
Visibly shaken and in tears, Mr. Kamai sought immediate help and filed a complaint at the Pattaya City Police Station. He communicated his ordeal through a language translation application, detailing the assault to Pol. Lt. Suthiraphan Tapasiri. The police have been tasked with identifying and apprehending the culprits based on Mr. Kamai’s description. Efforts are underway to gather evidence from local CCTV footage and witness statements.

Pattaya City Police Station is urging anyone with information related to this case to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigation.
