Pattaya —
Police raided four karaoke bars in Pattaya and uncovered underage patrons, illegal workers, and drug use at one venue.
At 5:36 AM on December 12th, officers from the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), along with the Anti-Human Trafficking Division (AHTD), conducted a raid on four karaoke venues in Soi Koh Phai 2 in Pattaya. The operation followed a tip-off from concerned citizens who alleged that the venues illegally employed foreign workers, operated after legal hours, and allowed drug use.
The raid targeted four venues, publicly revealed by authorities as Route 66 Karaoke, Num Karaoke, Happy Time Karaoke, and Unis Karaoke. Patrons were found inside three of the venues, including Route 66, Happy Time, and Unis Karaoke, but no illegal activities were detected at these locations. However, at Num Karaoke, the venue was still operating although it already passed legal hours.
Officers also made a shocking discovery at Num Karaoke, including four underage customers, one was a 14-year-old, and nine foreign workers from Laos and Myanmar, employed to serve drinks and entertain customers.
Additionally, drug tests conducted on all employees and patrons revealed that eight individuals tested positive for illegal substances.
The police detained the venue operator and filed multiple charges, including operating an entertainment venue without a license, employing illegal foreign workers, and allowing minors under 18 to enter the premises.
