Chonburi —

The father of an MP for Chonburi’s District 2, under the main opposition People’s Party, was critically injured in a shooting at a restaurant in Chonburi early on December 10th.

The incident occurred at 5:30 AM in the parking lot behind the restaurant in the Mueang district. Responding to the scene, authorities found Mr. Sakda Nopsit, 61, a former secretary to the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, critically injured.

Mr. Sakda is the father of Ms. Wannida Nopsit, MP for Chonburi’s District 2 under the People’s Party. He had sustained a gunshot wound to his abdomen, with the bullet exiting through his back. Rescue workers provided first aid before rushing him to Chonburi Hospital.

At the scene, police recovered a 9mm bullet casing and several unfired rounds scattered nearby. According to Mr. Burapha, a rescue worker, he arrived to find the victim lying on the ground, groaning in pain from the gunshot wound above his navel.

The motive for the shooting remains unknown, and the assailant fled the scene immediately after the attack. Police are reviewing nearby CCTV footage and plan to interview the injured victim once he recovers to identify and arrest the suspect.
