At 1:00 AM on December 7th, 2024, Pattaya City police were alerted to a drowning incident at Pattaya Beach near Soi Beach Road 3.
A Russian female tourist (whose name was withheld by the police), aged 54, was found face down in the water. Despite efforts by bystanders and police to perform CPR, the woman, who had been underwater for an extended period, succumbed to her injuries.
According to a witness, Athit Chinrat, a 43-year-old squid fisher, he initially saw the tourist playing in the shallow water. On his return, he discovered her motionless in the sea and promptly called for assistance.
Rescuers transported her body to Bang Lamung Hospital for identification and further proceedings. Authorities are awaiting contact from the deceased’s family to arrange religious rites.
