British Expat Rescued After Attempted Jump from Pattaya Condo Balcony

Pattaya —

A British expat with depression was saved by Pattaya police and rescue teams after attempting to jump from an 11th-floor balcony on December 4th, 2024.

At 8:06 AM, Pattaya police received a report of an expat attempting to jump from a high building at a condominium in the Jomtien area. Upon receiving the call, the police immediately coordinated with rescue services before rushing to the scene, along with reporters from The Pattaya News.

There, authorities found a British man, approximately 60-70 years old, standing on an 11th-floor balcony, which did not have a safety railing. The officers attempted to persuade him to come back inside, but the foreigner ignored their pleas and continued to stand on the balcony.

As soon as the man was distracted, the police and rescue team worked together to pull the man back inside the building through a window, safely rescuing him.

According to Mr. Sak, a 37-year-old security guard at the condominium, a resident had informed him that a foreigner was standing on the balcony as if to jump. He rushed to check and immediately notified the authorities for help. He told The Pattaya News that the man had previously attempted to jump from the same building twice before, and he himself had saved him during a prior incident.

The man’s friends, who later arrived, revealed that the man suffers from depression and is currently undergoing treatment. He usually lives alone, with a lawyer overseeing his affairs. He was planning to move to a retirement home, but no one expected he would attempt suicide again.

The police and rescue team took the man into custody to calm him down before transferring him to a hospital for further treatment. His name was withheld due to TPN Media editorial policy.
