Chinese Driver Hits Motorcycle in Pattaya, Killing Young Woman

A Chinese man driving a van collided with a motorcycle in Pattaya early this morning, tragically killing a young Thai woman at the scene.

At 3:20 AM on December 1st, Banglamung police received a report of a serious traffic accident on the railway road inside Soi Nongprue, Pattaya. Upon receiving the report, police coordinated with Sawang Boriboon rescue workers and a medical team from Banglamung Hospital before rushing to the scene, along with reporters from The Pattaya News.

There, a black Yamaha Forza motorcycle was found severely damaged. The motorcycle had collided with a roadside sign. Nearby, the injured motorcyclist, identified as Ms. Phattharawadee Amphuch, a 20-year-old Thai citizen from Nakhon Sawan province, was lying in a pool of blood. Rescue workers performed CPR to try to save her life, but unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

On the road, the other vehicle involved, a white Toyota Alphard van was found with its front end extensively damaged. The driver, Mr. Wang Yu, a 40-year-old Chinese national, stood with a group of 4-5 Chinese friends at the scene, waiting to provide a statement to the police.

According to an eyewitness, Mr. Thirasak Pakchai, 31, who was sitting in front of a convenience store at the time of the accident, the Toyota Alphard was driving along the railway road toward Nong Ket Yai. As the van crossed the railway intersection, it collided at full speed with the motorcycle, which was crossing the railway toward Sukhumvit Road. The impact caused both the motorcycle and its rider to be thrown in opposite directions.

Banglamung police plan to review CCTV footage from the area to determine the exact cause of the accident. The deceased’s body was transferred to Banglamung Hospital to be kept for future religious rites.
