National —
From November 29th to December 4th, 2024, the Thai Meteorological Department forecasts significant weather changes.
A strong high-pressure system from China will dominate upper and central Thailand, including Bangkok and nearby areas, causing cooler temperatures and strong winds. The northeast will experience chilly to cold mornings, while the northern, central, eastern, and upper southern regions will see cool mornings.
An intensifying northeast monsoon over the Gulf of Thailand and southern regions, combined with a low-pressure system near Malaysia, will bring heavy to very heavy rainfall to the central and lower southern provinces.
Flash floods, forest runoff, and river overflows are expected, especially in foothill areas and flood-prone zones. In the Gulf of Thailand, rough seas are predicted, with 2–3-meter waves, increasing to over 3 meters in stormy areas.
From December 1st–4th, the high-pressure system will weaken slightly, leading to milder cold mornings with patchy fog. Rainfall in the south will reduce but remain heavy in some areas. Seas will become less turbulent, but waves in the Gulf and Andaman Sea may still reach 1–2 meters, higher offshore or during thunderstorms. Small boats in the lower Gulf are advised to remain ashore until November 30th.
