Pattaya —
Pattaya lifeguards recently completed preparedness training to keep tourists safe during the high season.
On November 27th, Mr. Krissana Boonsawat, Deputy Mayor of Pattaya, presided over the opening of the Sea Disaster Prevention Drill at the Jomtien Beach Water Sports Area. The drill was conducted by the head of the Sea Safety Control Division and was participated in by 30 lifeguards and relevant officers from Jomtien.
Mr. Krissana stated that the Sea Disaster Prevention Drill is regularly held for lifeguards at all Pattaya beaches, including Pattaya Beach, Jomtien Beach, and Koh Larn. The purpose is to make sure that all lifeguards are always prepared for unexpected incidents so that they can provide timely assistance to tourists in distress.
This drill also aims to ensure that lifeguards are able to perform their duties correctly and effect emergency procedures to keep both locals and tourists safe at all times while visiting beaches in Pattaya.
Mr. Krissana said that the drill is especially important during Thailand’s high season, which typically sees numerous international tourists in Pattaya. Events such as the Pattaya International Fireworks Festival, Pattaya Jazz Festival, and Pattaya Countdown will draw even more visitors to the city.
The deputy mayor emphasized that Pattaya is extremely serious about tourist safety, both on land and at sea. The exercise also keeps the lifeguards physically fit for any unforeseen situation.
