Pattaya —

Pattaya police arrested 17 Chinese nationals for running a cross-border loan shark operation from luxury villas in Pattaya.

The operation took place on November 27th, targeting a group of Chinese men who were operating a major illegal loan shark network operating out of villas in the Pratumnak Hill area in South Pattaya.

Acting on a search warrant issued by the Pattaya Provincial Court, police raided two rented villas and arrested 17 Chinese individuals. According to police, the suspects were serving as administrators for a large cross-border loan shark network with thousands of clients in China.

The network reportedly had a cash flow of over 135 million baht. The Chinese administrators earned salaries of around 100,000 baht per month, excluding additional commissions based on how much in loans they could offer to clients and debts they could recover.

Police are expanding their investigation to arrest the rest of the network.
