Pattaya —
Pattaya police arrested a gang member for a knife attack on an 18-year-old boy after the suspect attempted to stab officers during his capture.
On November 27th, 2024, Pattaya police arrested a 22-year-old gang member, Mr. Phetchai, also known as Arm, on Chalerm Phrakiat Third Road in Pattaya. The arrest was made under a Pattaya Provincial Court warrant for charges including nighttime trespassing, armed assault, and carrying a weapon in public without permission.
The incident leading to Mr. Phetchai’s arrest occurred on November 10th, when he allegedly attacked an 18-year-old teenager with a knife at a motel in Soi Koh Phai. The attack was reportedly motivated by jealousy.
Pol. Lt. Col. Thananon Athipansi, Deputy Chief Investigator of Pattaya Police Station, told The Pattaya News that upon confrontation with the police, Mr. Phetchai attempted to flee but was surrounded. He then pulled out the same knife he used to attack the victim and lunged at the officers. Fortunately, no one was injured, and he was subdued and arrested with the weapon, a 15-centimeter knife, in his possession.
The suspect is currently being detained at the Pattaya Police Station for legal proceedings. Pol. Lt. Col. Thananon revealed that the suspect is a member of the Nam Tao gang, which is notorious for motorcycle theft and robberies in the area. Authorities are investigating whether the suspect was involved in other criminal activities.
